Prince Theseus

Family Background:

Mostly everyone says that Theseus is the son of King Aegeus and Aethra because his name is Prince Theseus. Some people say he is the son of Poseidon and Aethra.

Wife and Children-

Prince Theseus married Phaedra and had two children that they named Demophon and Acamas.

Theseus was the greatest hero in Athens. He had the characteristics that a hero should have such as, strength and courage, but he was also very wise. He always wanted to grow up and be just like his cousin Heracles. They fought together a lot. When they fought together they used Heracles strength and courage and Theseus' intelligence.

Theseus' responsibilities were to kill the Minotaur and other creatures.

King Minos lived on an island called Crete. He had a very strong navy that he would take to attack Athens when he was bored. Athens got very tired of him attacking them so they made a deal with him that they would send seven boys and seven girls to Crete every nine years, so they could be eaten by the Minotaur. Prince Theseus thought that it was wrong to send little children to be eaten by a monster who was half man and half bull just to stop having battle with King Minos. He decided that he would go as one of the seven boys and he would kill the Minotaur. The children arrived in Crete where they met King Minos and Princess Ariadne. Princess Ariadne met Theseus in the Labyrinth where she made a deal with him that she would help Theseus if he took her away from the island to a different island where she would be admired by lots of people, after he killed the Minotaur. Theseus took the deal and Princess Ariadne gave him a sword and a ball of string to help him kill the Minotaur. The children entered the maze where the Minotaur was. Theseus tied the end of the string to the door and he told the children to stay by the door and make sure that the string stayed tied so that he could find his way back. He killed the Minotaur and followed the string back to the door where Princess Ariadne was waiting for them. The seven boys and seven girls sailed away on their ship and Princess Ariadne joined them. They stopped on an island where the Princess fell asleep, so Prince Theseus decided to leave her their where she was being admired by lots of people for her beauty.
